It was only a matter of time until Kelsey and Matt met. Circumstances seemed to demand it.

Kelsey’s sister, Sam, became best friends with Amanda in middle school. Amanda’s brother, Steve, is one of Matt’s childhood friends.

Despite this, the pair arrived at Sam and Amanda’s 2015 Halloween party as strangers, unaware their lives were about to change.

When Matt’s string of beer pong victories ended, he stepped outside for some air and found Kelsey in the backyard, unsuccessfully calling Amanda’s dog, Louise. Then Matt — an avid dog person — tried. Louise ran to him immediately. A conversation started. Or maybe it was bickering at first. Eventually Kelsey smiled. They exchanged numbers and saw each other the next day.

Time seemed to accelerate after that. Days became weeks, which became months, which became years. Matt and Kelsey built a life together with three dogs of their own — Chloe (RIP), Jerry Lee, and Tom. They traveled the country sharing their love of nature. And through unwavering love they helped each other become the best versions of themselves.

In May 2022, Kelsey’s family took a vacation to St. George Island, Florida. During couples’ photos on the beach, Matt asked Kelsey to marry him. She said yes as soon as she realized what was happening.

Now they’re preparing for their next chapter. A lifetime of adventure awaits. Thank you for being part of their story.
